The Building Site

Last week I went to the new building site and took some before pictures, which I’ll post here. I then made it my goal to spend an hour sitting outside today to type up the information to get the Blog started. I’ll have to go inside to post them, but I wanted to spend some time working on typing this outside. Initially I was going to sit on the piles of dirt, but as they were in the sun, I instead decided to sit under a tree, looking at where the building will be. Teachers have come and asked what I was doing, as well as some students. It has been good inspiration to sit here and work on these descriptions for you, while looking upon the place where the building will be. It’s my goal to spend at least an hour a week updating you and praying for the building outside in this area. It might get more difficult when construction gets started, but for now, I’ll enjoy the quiet and the breeze as I dream of the plans that God has for this place. The bell has wrung, my hour is up. Now I’ll need to find time to post these and get this blog up. I’m not sure exactly what I’m doing, but stick with me, I’ll get it figured out in time.

This is the view from where I sat today, those piles of dirt are where the new building will be.

Project Bids

Saha Christian Suksa School is under the Church of Christ in Thailand (CCT). The CCT has asked the school to have 5 project bids before choosing one. The initial deadline was February 18th. However, at that time there were only 2 bids presented. So, they extended until February 26th to try to get the additional bids. If they don’t get 5 bids, they will then have to ask permission from the CCT to go ahead with 3 or 4 bids. Then they will negotiate a final price, choose the contractor, and hopefully break ground in March. Once we have a final bid and price. I will get the numbers of what we currently have, and what is still needed and let you know in a clear manner. I’d like to have the numbers more set in stone before throwing them out there, then having to change them later. I’ve put the initial estimates in another post, but will wait to know for sure to post it on here again.

Good News

After many years of working on forms, creating curriculum, and gathering documents, we finally received word on February 12th that permission had been granted to extend, and the form had been signed. February 16th the document arrived and word spread quickly through the school and community that indeed we would be opening 7th grade in May. Many parents and students are excited to have the opportunity to continue their education in a Christian setting for another 3 years. Not only is it the Christian setting that they like, but the quality of the education is better than the local government schools. Sixth graders that I taught last year that then went on to the local government school said that what I taught in 6th grade was harder than what they were learning in 7th grade at the other school. This was for several subjects, not just English.

Having received this permission, we now need to move ahead with fundraising for a new building that needs to be completed by May 2017.
